About The Paper Sunflower

Welcome to The Paper Sunflower!

I am a Registered Nurse by profession, with a love of helping others. I feel close to the past, and I have always especially enjoyed caring for older people. I enjoy writing, being creative in various ways, and collecting vintage and antique books, magazines, recipes, and other ephemera. I am the most inspired by vintage fashion plates, postcards, and illustrations from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I also appreciate the wisdom of those who came before, much of which still applies today. Although technology and fashion change rapidly, people don't change very much, and they experienced the same emotions, dilemmas, joys and sorrows that we do now--they were just wearing more interesting clothes!

I love the past, but I am grateful to be living in the 21st century. Without the internet, I wouldn't have been able to find many of the wonderful things I have collected, and I wouldn't be able to access the myriad of information, photos, books, and other resources available online. And I wouldn't be able to share in the diverse online community of people with similar interests.

I am grateful for my loving husband, and the other wonderful people in my life. Like everyone, I strive to find peace, beauty, health and balance, and I like to find ways to bring vintage wisdom and style into my life today. I hope you enjoy visiting The Paper Sunflower! Please share your thoughts and ideas, and I will look forward to seeing you here again soon!

Best Wishes!
Susan
